Arrow Spine Guide
Lower number = stiffer spine. A 300-spine arrow is stiffer than a 400-spine arrow.
When in doubt, go stiffer. A too-stiff arrow flies better than a too-weak one — weak arrows fishtail and lose accuracy.
Broadheads need stiffer spine than field points — a broadhead acts like a wing and amplifies any flex.
Fingers release adds paradox — the arrow bends more off the string, requiring a weaker (higher number) spine or shifting your draw weight up by 5 lbs in calculations.
Longer arrows are effectively weaker — add stiffness if your arrow is longer than 29".
